Gospel MK 6:53-56
After making the crossing to the other side of the sea,
Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret
and tied up there.
As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him.
They scurried about the surrounding country
and began to bring in the sick on mats
to wherever they heard he was.
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered,
they laid the sick in the marketplaces
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
and as many as touched it were healed.
Reflection:
As Jesus and His disciples came ashore, people began to carry their sick friends and family members to Him to be healed.
“………they laid the sick in the marketplaces
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak…”
Today, we who believe in the power of Jesus Christ to heal, continue to bring those who are sick of mind, body, heart, and spirit to Him.
Jesus is the healer but, He is not intrusive. He does not force Himself upon those who do not choose to seek His healing touch.
Whether now or in His own time, the healing offered by Jesus is dependent upon a person’s willingness to reach out and “touch the tassel on His cloak.”
We can lead others to the ‘living water” but they must make the decision whether or not to “drink of the cup.”
“……and as many as touched it were healed.”
“In order for God to heal our wounds we must first be willing to give up our pain.”                               – –  Unknown
