Profound Encounters with God

A few recent experiences reminded me how special our mission is:

  • A volunteer named Dan brought his 2-year old son for a visit. On the way over to My Brother’s Keeper, he told his little boy, “I want to show you where I met God.”
  • A volunteer named Kathy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a year ago and believes she’s only here today because of the power of prayer. “I’ve stood in the prayer room praying for others on Thursday mornings and I feel the strength of your prayers for me now. Thank you. I love you all,” she told me.
  • In thanking us for our service, Donna from Quincy summed up our efforts in 5 words: “God does listen to us.”

How can a charity delivering physical objects like furniture and food inspire profound encounters with God?

The answer lies in our mission ‘To bring the Love and Hope of Jesus Christ to those we serve.’ My Brother’s Keeper is not defined by what we do but WHY and HOW we do it.

It is our focus on serving in Christ’s name with great love which brings us together as a community and pushes us to excellence, to do more than we ever thought possible.

It is God’s presence in our work that’s touched hundreds of thousands of lives— both those we serve and those who serve with us.

Many lives have been touched deeply by My Brother’s Keeper. Mine is just one. Thank you for being another.
