Tom, Daisy, and their daughter Kim are originally from Massachusetts but they left the state two years ago when Tom was transferred for work. When he lost his job unexpectedly, the family had to move back to the area. Starting over was an enormous struggle: they spent months in family shelters unable to find a place of their own.

After finally getting an apartment in Brockton, Tom and Daisy connected with My Brother’s Keeper for our help with furniture. After all they’d been through, receiving the crucifix was particularly emotional for them. Tom wrote this beautiful poem afterwards to express his thanks:
