The volunteers and supporters of My Brother's Keeper built our current home in 2002. The facility is a modern 15,000 square foot operations center located in Easton, Massachusetts next to Stonehill College, a Catholic college run by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
The goals of the building project were two-fold: (1) to keep pace with the increasing need for our services and (2) to make our service experience readily available to students at Stonehill, our primary educational partner.
Over the years, My Brother's Keeper has become a 'ministry of education' as well as a 'ministry of loving service.' Several hundred students volunteer with us annually, including 100+ each year from Stonehill.
Remarkably, the building was erected without incurring any debt, a true testament to the dedication of our supporters. The two acres of land on which the building rests was generously leased to My Brother's Keeper by the Congregation of Holy Cross for fifty years at $10/year as an expression of their order's 'preferential option for the poor.'
The focal point of the building is the Divine Servant sculpture depicting Jesus washing Peter's feet at The Last Supper. It is frequently used by our staff as a teaching tool, illustrating Christ's call to serve with humility and empathy.
Today, more than 2,000 volunteers a year walk through the doors of My Brother's Keeper to personally join our work.
